Irish consumers unconcerned by global uncertainty and tariffs – at least for now

Turmoil? What turmoil? Despite the global economic uncertainty caused by US president Donald Trump’s tariffs, Irish consumer spending is as strong as ever.

Vat returns are running €0.5bn, or 6.8pc, ahead of this time last year, according to data published yesterday by the Department of Finance.
