The United Kingdom and European Union are still trying to resolve disagreements over fisheries and food checks just a week before a summit in London where UK prime minister Keir Starmer plans to announce a major reset in post-Brexit relations.

There remains an expectation that both sides will be able to agree on the text of three documents to be published at the event on May 19: a defence and security partnership, a common agreement on future relations in other areas, and a joint statement reaffirming their alliance amid geopolitical uncertainty.
