Engineering specialist Brimmond is setting up a Middle East business division which the Aberdeen-based company describes as a significant milestone in its international growth.
Its subsidiary will be located in the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and as part of the intiative Brimmond will be partnering with controls technology company Proserv which has facilities across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration will combine Brimmond’s engineering expertise with Proserv’s strong regional presence to deliver enhanced support and solutions to customers throughout the Middle East.
Brimmond is on target to mobilise equipment with a value in excess of £1m, along with an extensive spares and support package, for rental across the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Tom Murdoch, managing director of Brimmond, said: “This is one of the most exciting times for Brimmond in our near 30-year history.
“Following a period of sustained growth in the UK, we now have capacity in the business to deliver on our plans in the Middle East. Combined with our diversification into new sectors such as renewables, defence and aquaculture, this move is a pivotal component of our growth strategy.”
Angus Rodger, senior Vice president at Proserv said: “This collaboration reflects the strong, trusted relationship our two companies have built over nearly two decades.”
Macphie expands in Middle East
Scottish food firm Macphie is opening a dedicated customer centre in Dubai as it plans expansion into the fast-growing Middle Eastern market.
The move is part of Macphie’s plan to more than double sales in the region over the next three years.
With a trading presence in the Middle East for more than 30 years, the family-owned Scottish firm has recognised the opportunity to dramatically scale its offer by investing in its own facility.
Ed Widdowson, chief executive, said: “We know from experience that our best results come when we engage directly with our customers in their home territory. The Dubai customer centre will allow us to do exactly that – and demonstrate how our ingredients can make a real difference in kitchens and bakeries.
“Our ambition is to go beyond supplying product. We want to be partners in innovation, helping our customers solve their biggest culinary and operational challenges. Dubai gives us the ideal platform to do just that.”
