Skylark Lasers hire photonics veteran as CEO

Chris Madin: experienced

Skylark Lasers has appointed experienced photonics and instrumentation specialist Christopher Madin as chief executive.

Mr Madin was previously managing director at Qioptiq Photonics and CEO of KLASTECH GmbH.

He has extensive experience in building global sales channels, managing new product development and driving high growth photonics environments particularly across semiconductor inspection and life science instrumentation sectors.

Notably, he led Qioptiq Photonics through a rapid growth and transformation programme as part of a significant contract with a key semiconductor customer. As CEO of KLASTECH, he led the company through its acquisition by a US-based photonics company.

“Christopher has a proven track record of building and scaling laser and photonics businesses,” said Ewan McLellan, chairman at Skylark Lasers.

“His ability to lead through periods of growth, acquisition, and integration while maintaining technical excellence, will be invaluable as Skylark Lasers continues to expand its presence in the life science, semiconductor, and quantum markets.”

Alastair Moore, Investment Director at venture capital specialist Par Equity, and long-term investment partner to Skylark Lasers, said: “It’s fantastic to see Christopher join Skylark at this inflection point in Skylark’s evolution.

“With the business now scaling internationally, being able to attract a candidate of Christopher’s quality and experience is testament to both the progress made and the size of the opportunity for Skylark over the coming years.”
