Cyacomb hires law enforcement expert as CEO

Cyacomb, a provider of forensic tools that help law enforcement detect harmful content, has hired Chris Johnson as chief executive.

Mr Johnson has spent two decades in law enforcement, international digital forensics, and commercial leadership.

He will take over at the Edinburgh-based firm from outgoing CEO Ian Stevenson who has led the company since it was set up in 2016.

Mr Johnson has with a background that spans senior roles in law enforcement and commercial success in delivering multi-million pound forensic services and capabilities to major policing organisations.

His previous leadership experience helped shape large-scale digital forensic operations, modernising digital forensic and investigation departments around the world.

Mr Stevenson said the company’s leadership should align with its scalable commercial growth. He will remain for a six-month transition and continue as a board adviser thereafter.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Cyacomb,” Ian said. “Our products are saving lives, and we now serve agencies across the UK, US and Europe. It’s time to bring in a commercially-focused leader to scale this work even further.”

Cyacomb also confirmed that recent strategic funding will support operational efficiency and targeted investment in sales. 

Maggie Titmuss, chair, said Mr Johnson’s “commercial acumen will help us drive growth opportunities across the globe and into new markets.”
