With two small children and another on the way, Linda Kelly is well used to the chaos and cost associated with Christmas and says that there is no getting away from the fact that lots of money will be spent on gifts, entertaining and enjoying the festivities.
“I am married with two children, aged three and four and have another one in the oven, so there is a lot going on,” she says. “As well as for my own family, at Christmas I also buy small gifts for my eight nieces and nephews and my one great nephew – I probably spend from €20 to €40 per child unless they have had a big milestone like an 18th birthday or a graduation, or something really important to them.
