Better days ahead for Irish whiskey exports as slump ‘bottoms out’ – Bord Bia bullish about drinks sector after tough year

Return to growth predicted in 2026 after sales plummeted to €930m in 2025 amid tariffs, inflation and the devaluation of the dollar

The decline in Irish whiskey exports has bottomed out following a sharp fall in international sales that hammered the sector last year, the boss of Ireland’s food export agency believes.

The Irish whiskey sector has been under significant pressure after US tariffs on imports, the devaluation of the dollar, overstocking in America, and high consumer inflation, all contributed to a slowdown in overseas demand.
