Van Morrison’s production company hits another high note with cash funds of €20.8m

New accounts filed by Morrison’s Exile Productions Ltd to Companies House in the UK show that accumulated profits increased by £1.67m (€1.92m) from £10.4m to £12.08m in the year ending April 30 last.

Over the same period, the company’s cash funds rose by £1.08m from £16.99m to £18.07m.

During the prior year, Morrison provided the company with a £6.68m loan and at the end of April the amount owed to the singer-songwriter had reduced to £5.65m.

Morrison – who celebrated his 80th birthday last August – is the author of classic hits such as Moondance and It Stoned Me, Sweet Thing, Brown Eyed Girl and Have I Told You Lately.

The artist’s appeal endures and he is due to play the Waterford Hall in Belfast tomorrow and Thursday and will appear at the Market Place Theatre in Armagh on February 7. All gigs are sold out.

The ‘sold out’ sign also appears on four out of five of Morrison’s gigs later this month at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

After that he will travel to Boston in March, before flying back to Belfast for more gigs in April and going on to Bath in the UK and Holland in June and July.

In the year under review, Morrison added to the company coffers with a sell-out gig at Live at the Marquee in Cork in May 2024.

The abridged accounts – only signed off by Ivan Morrison on January 29 – do not give details about the revenues recorded by the firm during the year, as Exile Productions Ltd is classified as a small company.

The numbers of employees, four, remained unchanged from the previous year. The profit takes account of non-cash depreciation costs of £21,040.

Knighted in 2016 for his musical achievements and services to tourism and charitable causes in Northern Ireland, Morrison’s output shows no sign of slowing down either.

Last June he released the album Remembering Now, which charted in the top 10.

That was Morrison’s 47th studio album. Last month he released Somebody Tried To Sell Me A Bridge, which included fresh interpretations of classics made famous by the likes of BB King, Buddy Guy and Leadbelly.

The intensely private Morrison’ has been critically acclaimed over his long career, winning six Grammy Awards and a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

He has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
