Elon Musk’s firm argues scanning encrypted communications is unjustified

The social media platform X has told the Department of Justice that most of the child sexual abuse material it finds appears in public areas, not in private messages.

The company, owned by Elon Musk, was signalling its opposition to any requirement to scan encrypted communications on its platform, as the European Commission is proposing.
