Air traffic control trade union representatives are set to re-enter a dispute resolution process with their employer AirNav Ireland after receiving assurances that the semi- state company is not planning to use its €310m cash pile to pay a dividend to the Government.
Controllers in Dublin, Cork and Shannon have demanded that the cash – earned from fees charged by AirNav Ireland to airlines overflying Ireland – be used to fix what they claim is a struggling air traffic system that has become totally dependent on excessive overtime.
