Nearly €2bn sits in the coffers of the National Training Fund – while firms struggle to find staff

A €1.77bn surplus had accrued in the National Training Fund (NTF) by the end of 2024, even as Irish businesses reported widespread skills shortages across the economy.

Accounts show the employer-funded NTF closed 2024 with an accumulated surplus of €1.77bn, up from €1.54bn a year earlier.
