The US intends to hike a “global tariff” to 15pc this week, as the Trump administration continues to deal with the aftermath of a US supreme court ruling that struck out many of the trade levies it imposed last year.

The White House had initially imposed a new 10pc “temporary tariff”, after the court ruled on February 20 that Donald Trump overstepped the limits of the US International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) by imposing sweeping tariffs on trade partners in 2025.
