Digging in for the long haul: Breffni hopes to be first to break ground on the MetroLink

The father and son team behind the north Dublin civil engineering firm tell their story

Out in the rural heart of north county Dublin, nestled discreetly among the cabbage fields and solar farms, under the roaring jets of planes, there’s a 160-metre long “Dart line”.

It may be the shortest train line in the country. But it’s here – on a huge site in Killsallaghan, hidden from the farmland behind expertly crafted landscaped banks – that Breffni Group managing director Rory Flynn prepares his staff and machines for the big impact he hopes they can have on Ireland’s current and future railways.
