The number of foreign holidays taken by Irish people rose last year, while ‘staycations’ declined

Irish people took more foreign holidays and did less ‘staycationing’ in 2025, new figures from the Central Statistics Office show.

There were 15.1 million overnight trips outside of Ireland last year, up 11pc on 2024. Meanwhile, there were 15.3 million overnight domestic trips, which was down 8pc year-on-year.
