Artificial Intelligence (AI) ‘agents’ and deepfakes-as-a-service are part of a new wave of AI-enhanced fraud that is 4.5 times more profitable than traditional methods, according to Interpol’s 2026 Global Financial Fraud Threat Assessment.
The AI fraud warning comes after Europol and the FBI announced they had dismantled a major dark web forum, LeakBase, which has been used by 142,000 criminals, scammers and fraudsters to trade stolen credentials.
