In Ireland’s main cities and towns, the resurgence of construction is unmistakable. Builders, with their high-visibility jackets, fleets of vans, and towering cranes, dominate the landscape once again. Not since the buoyant era of the Celtic Tiger has the construction sector been quite so visible.
Roads, water infrastructure, and notably, new housing estates are emerging at an accelerated pace. This flurry of activity suggests the sector is finally beginning to address the long-standing housing crisis by delivering the much-needed residential pipeline. But while outward appearances suggest progress, a closer look shows a more nuanced picture.
