Shortlist for €2bn race to buy Energia is whittled down to four bidders

Czech, US, UK and Japanese suitors have all gone through to the second round to purchase the power firm

Energia has been given the go-ahead to build a data centre beside its power stations at Huntstown in Dublin

A joint-venture between the UK’s Octopus Energy and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has emerged as one of the second-round bidders in a €2bn-plus race to buy Irish power firm Energia.

The other prospective buyers that have gone through to the second round of bids for the company are US private equity giant KKR, Japan’s Itochu and the Daniel Kretinsky-backed Czech energy firm EPH.
