Energy services company John Wood Group is to be investigated by the Financial Services Authority.
The probe is connected to the inquiry by Deloitte into the Aberdeen company’s accounts which was announced on 7 November last year.
That led to a sharp fall in the company’s value.
In a statement issued today Wood said: “The Company has been notified by the Financial Conduct Authority of its commencement of an investigation into the company covering the period from 1 January 2023 to 7 November 2024.
“The company will cooperate fully with the FCA in relation to this investigation.
Wood is currently subject to takeover talks with Dubai-based Sidara which has until 5pm on Monday to make its intentions clear. There was no reference in today’s statement about whether it will affect those talks.
