Department of Transport says MetroLink provides ‘required strategic connectivity’ despite lack of mainline access

Ireland risks facing significant annual fines from 2040 if the country fails to connect Dublin Airport to a high-speed rail line, under EU rules.

The Department of Transport said it is aware of the regulation, but it does not believe it will require a mainline rail link to Dublin Airport.
