League of Ireland players and Irish players who took part in professional soccer in the UK and EU have been invited to join a “potentially billion-dollar” class action claim against Fifa and possibly other soccer associations.

The group behind the action, the Dutch foundation Justice for Players, says it follows an EU legal ruling last year in favour of French player Lassana Diarra, who was fined €10m by Fifa for leaving Lokomotiv Moscow one year into a four-year deal.
