Funding for EV charging firm Connekt + hotels update

Connekt Group, a Scottish electric vehicle (EV) charging network and commercial installation business, has received undisclosed funding from Growth Fund 1.

Last September, East Kilbride-based Connekt secured a £250,000 loan via Investment Fund for Scotland appointed Fund Manager, The FSE Group.

Connekt, founded by Johnny Manning, specialises in the installation and management of commercial EV charging solutions across various sectors, including hospitality and corporate offices. 

Growth fund 1 said: “We’re proud to be backing Johnny Manning and his excellent team as the business enters its next stage of growth at a very exciting time for the sector.”

Administrators have sold the George Hotel in Inveraray, as well as its contents and a residential dwelling to Charlie Maclachlan and Sam Wignell of Fyne Hospitality.

The £3.05 million deal should save the jobs of 43 full and part-time staff.

The 24-bedroom property is located on the western shore of Loch Fyne. Its restaurant holds an AA rosette.

The hotel was put up for sale in March and the process generated 51 interested parties across the UK.


Hotel group unveils partnership

Rocco Forte Hotels, owner of Edinburgh’s Balmoral, has announced a partnership with Emerald Pine Capita aimed at enhancing the expansion of the Rocco Forte brand across Europe and the Middle East.

The collaboration adds capabilities across sourcing, underwriting, structuring and execution. The partners will pursue repositioning, value-add, and development opportunities in gateway cities and high-demand leisure destinations.

The aim is to offer a differentiated and compelling proposition for investors and a streamlined and effective process for asset owners.


Hotels join boutique portfolio

Mar Hall Golf & Spa resort near Glasgow and The Bruntsfield Hotel in Edinburgh will join the JA Resorts & Hotels collection of boutique resorts, following their acquisition by Dubai-based Dutco Group in December 2023 and December 2024 respectively.

JA Resorts & Hotels has facilities around world, including Dubai and the Maldives, and said the inclusion of Mar Hall and The Bruntsfield reflects the global confidence in the Scottish market.
