In conversation with Mary McCarthy

On Mondays, I get a taxi to the airport at 5.15am. If I’ve had no caffeine and have eaten something filling, like muesli and a banana, I’d fall asleep again on the flight.

Knowing I have to be up at 4.30am often means I wake a few times worrying about when the alarm is going to go off, but if I can get that 40 minutes of sleep I can push on through to the evening. Otherwise, I’m dead beat by late afternoon.
