Airlines have scrambled to add significant seat capacity at Dublin Airport for next summer in a move that would potentially lift passenger numbers close to 40 million.

Aer Lingus and Ryanair have led the charge and between them have applied to add millions of extra seats through additional take-off and landing slots.
