Richard Curran: Despite the €5.5bn profit, Nama was a missed opportunity to deliver houses

As Nama goes quietly into that good night and disappears into Irish financial history at the end of next month, economist John FitzGerald has provided an assessment of how it performed its duties.

His conclusion? He says it delivered a reasonable return and did its job. And the agency is likely to have returned a lifetime surplus of €5.5bn to the Exchequer.
