In October, I was elected president of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), one of the five EU institutions created by the Treaty of Rome in the 1950s.
The EESC gives voice to civil society – to workers, employers and civil society organisations. We bring balance to the debate on European Union policies and legislation and bring views from the furthermost parts of Europe.
