Ireland’s independent nursing-home sector is facing a mounting crisis as rising costs and stagnant state funding threaten the viability of several family-run facilities, an industry leader has warned.
Fergus McNulty, chairman of Céile Care, warned that without urgent government intervention, a wave of closures could leave vulnerable elderly residents with nowhere to go. Céile Care, a co-op for family-owned nursing homes, is looking to grow its network from 36 to 45 next year.
