Q We are two adults insured on the Laya Inspire Plus scheme. We know we’re not fully covered for major orthopaedic procedures and are considering the merits of upgrading to a “full cover” plan. We don’t have any underlying orthopaedic issues at present and would appreciate any advice you can provide in this regard.

A The Laya Inspire Plus scheme is still a good semi-private corporate plan costing €1,777 per adult, according to Dermot Goode of HealthInsuranceIreland.ie. Like most plans in the market at this level, it has a 20pc co-payment on certain orthopaedic and ophthalmic procedures when carried out in a private hospital.
