Intel to cut 20pc of global workforce as Government fears 1,000 Irish jobs may be at risk

Intel is poised to announce plans this week to cut more than 20pc of its staff, aiming to eliminate bureaucracy at the struggling chipmaker, it is understood.

Government ministers are fearing nearly 1,000 jobs could be at stake at the Irish Intel plant in Leixlip, although the company has not yet clarified the position in relation to Kildare-based staff.
