Ireland is a “tempting target for bad actors” and needs significant investment in security to safeguard Europe, according to a new KPMG report.

The spotlight on Ireland’s meagre investment in defence and security continues to grow, as the world’s security landscape shifts amid uncertainty over America’s commitment to Nato and Europe’s ability to defend itself from future threats. Ireland has the lowest level of defence spending in the EU at 0.2pc of GDP, despite being a crucial digital infrastructure and data-processing hub.
