Irish parents believe their children should have smartphones but do not want them accessing social media platforms, a new survey claims.

A total of 58pc of adults say smartphones are “appropriate” for 12 to 15-year-olds, with just 4pc saying the devices should not be given to ­under-18s, the poll of 1,000 Irish adults conducted by Deloitte found.
