Topshop has returned to the high street – four years after its last standalone shops closed – in a tie-up with department store chain John Lewis.
The brand’s range will be stocked in 32 John Lewis stores – including Edinburgh and Glasgow – while Topman will be available to shop in seven locations.
Topshop disappeared in 2021 when its former owner Arcadia collapsed into administration. Online fashion business Asos acquired the brand but there have been calls among shoppers for a return to an in-store format.
John Lewis was confirmed as the brand’s latest UK stockist in September after its initial return to the high street via luxury department store Liberty in August.
Topshop also opened short-term pop-ups at a small selection of John Lewis locations for the Christmas period.
Topshop managing director Michelle Wilson said: “Today is about making it easier for customers to access the Topshop and Topman pieces they love. From our cult denim to new?season footwear, you can see it, feel it and take it home the same day.
“Partnering with John Lewis brings Topshop back to high streets across the UK with the level of service our customers expect.”
The reintroduction forms part of John Lewis’s strategic expansion of new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season, underpinned by the retailer’s substantial £800 million long-term investment across its store portfolio.
Peter Ruis, managing director of John Lewis, said: “This moment marks a significant acceleration of our fashion ambition at John Lewis.
“To be the exclusive home of an iconic brand like Topshop, sat alongside other exciting new brands, signals our commitment to be the definitive style authority on the British high street.”
