Student bed shortage reaches ‘at least 38,900’ across four Irish cities

Sherry FitzGerald says new developments are contributing to the problem

A shortage of at least 38,900 student bed spaces was estimated across Dublin and the three regional centres of Cork, Galway and Limerick at the end of last year, according to research by estate agents Sherry FitzGerald.

It also estimates that there could be demand for as many as 53,000 student beds if it were not that so many students from surrounding areas were commuting to those centres.
