Moving from a learner permit to a full licence can lead to substantial savings

Twenty-year-old student Tom O’Neill passed his driving test last year in Kilkenny and although he has more money in his pocket thanks to not having to fork out for lessons, he hasn’t seen a big reduction in his insurance premium just yet.
“The reason I haven’t yet seen a drop in my insurance bill is because I am on my dad’s insurance and driving his car. This will change, though, as I’m about to go on college placement and I’m hoping to buy my own car,” he said.
