Government urged to cap creche administration fees as parents pay up to €100 just to go on waiting list

As law stands, the childcare provider does not have to return the deposit if child does not take up a place

Children’s Minister Norma Foley explained the need for deposits

The Government is being urged to cap administration fees being charged by creches for waiting-list places.

Some childcare providers ask for a non-refundable fee of up to €100 to cover the costs associated with managing applications.
