Hibernian sign ex-Leicester City director as CEO

Hibernian have appointed former Leicester City commercial director Dan Barnett as chief executive to replace Ben Kensell who left the Easter Road club by mutual agreement in January.

Barnett spent six years at the King Power Stadium and left after the clun’s relegation from the English Premier League last season. He will take up the role in Edinburgh on 1 August.

He has an international sporting pedigree. Prior to joining Leicester, he held roles at UEFA in Switzerland, and was chief commercial officer at two America’s Cup cycles in San Francisco, California and Bermuda.

Barnett also has Olympic experience in the United States as chief marketing and commercial officer at US Ski and Snowboard in Park City, Utah – the Olympic National Governing Body of ski and snowboard sports.

Hibs chairman Ian Gordon said: “The process of appointing our new CEO has been long and thorough, to ensure we hired the right person to lead the business side of the football club.

“His commercial nous and track record of implementing successful strategies will greatly benefit a number of areas at Hibernian.
