Azets, the top ten accountancy firm specialising in the SME market, has appointed John Kean as a private client tax partner based in the firm’s Edinburgh office.
He has 15 years’ experience advising private clients, partnerships, trusts, estates and entrepreneurs on their personal and wealth management tax strategies.
His extensive experience embraces tax compliance, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, succession planning, new businesses structures, restructuring and shareholder exit strategies.
He also has specialist knowledge of international residence tax, offshore structures and anti-avoidance provisions for the Transfer of Assets Abroad.
Having started his career with a Big Four firm, he worked for a further three mid-tier firms in Scotland where he extended his expertise in personal tax.
As a partner he will play a key role in driving the delivery of personal tax advice and services to Azets’ expanding personal and business clients in Edinburgh and across Scotland.
Commenting on his appointment, he said: “The proposed changes to inheritance tax are giving clients major cause for concern, particularly in relation to pensions and succession planning.”
Gareth Magee, Edinburgh office managing partner, added: “Our Edinburgh office has seen significant expansion in recent years. We have always had a strong reputation in personal tax and John is a great addition to the team.”
