Pernod Ricard shares soar after results defy analyst expectations

Pernod Ricard shares soared after reporting results that topped analyst expectations and forecasted a pick-up in demand as trade restrictions eased in its key market China.

The maker of key Irish whiskey brands including Jameson, Powers and Midleton, as well as Absolut vodka reported a better-than-expected end to its last fiscal year helped by France and Spain. Brands such as Royal Stag and Jameson performed well in India, according to a statement.
