The EU’s new €150bn plan to accelerate investment in the bloc’s defence industry will benefit Poland most, Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday.

The Security Action for Europe (Safe) plan is part of the EU’s effort to boost its defence readiness following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and amid concerns about American security commitments for the continent under US president Donald Trump.
