Irish exporters do not need extra financial supports, despite the new regime of 15pc tariffs imposed by Donald Trump on EU goods, the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) has said.
Advising against any specific measures in next month’s budget, the bank said broad fiscal supports for exporters are neither necessary nor appropriate, given “the nature of the shock” caused by tariffs, and because of the underlying vulnerabilities in the public finances.
