Irish exporters will face long backlogs in getting their products through America’s strict – and sometimes cumbersome – import-licensing system and other necessary permits.

A US trade expert warned that the ongoing government shutdown in Washington DC, as well as earlier swingeing Elon Musk-led Doge (Department of Government Efficiency) cutbacks, has led to long, frustrating delays for companies seeking authorisations to bring new products or make new investments in the still-lucrative American market.
