Government expenditure soaks up most of the bumper growth in tax revenues

Government spending has increased again this year, even in the aftermath of the general election, soaking up the bumper tax revenues being collected by the Exchequer.

Total expenditure to the end of October was €100.3bn, according to the latest figures from the Department of Finance.
