An accountancy firm which stepped in to audit the SNP’s accounts two years ago said it has secured a series of new contracts as it expands north of the Border.
AMS Accountants Group, which is headquartered in Manchester, said it wants to build a £20 million business in Scotland.
Steven Fraser, former managing partner at AAB, has been appointed AMS managing partner (Scotland), while Wendy Atkinson joins as director of growth and partnerships (Scotland).
The expansion is being backed by new investment from Macquarie Capital, enabling the group to “scale rapidly, create jobs, invest in regional talent and technology, and offer a more flexible, people-first alternative to traditional consolidators”.
Ms Atkinson held senior roles at Hunter Adams, Mattioli Woods and Clydesdale Bank.
Both directors are currently based in Aberdeen, with further recruitment planned in the city, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The appointment of AMS in 2023 by First Minister Humza Yousaf saved the SNP having the Electoral Commission impose auditors, or it failing to deliver its Westminster accounts which would have seen it unable to receive more than £1m from the public purse, so-called ‘short money’.
