With no big European bank yet emerging as a potential bidder for Permanent TSB, trade unions have reiterated their opposition to any private equity buyer of the bank.

A growing number of normally acquisitive buyers from within the sector are sitting out the Goldman Sachs-run sales process, according to sources.
